When will people learn that Guild Wars is NOT about 1v1? With only 8 skill slots to work with, there is no way you can bring enough counters for every build possible. So let's say you want to shut a mesmer up with your warrior. You might be twice as skilled as him, but the mesmer brings all anti-warrior skills and completely crushes you. The better player did not win. The skills that were created in GW were not meant to be used in 1v1 situations.
And never, ever make a WoW comparison to GW. The games are so different from each other that suggesting WoW ideas to be implemented in GW is foolish.

i'd say add the matches in the observer mode (only those of the current outposts and only of the same server, the list will still be VERY long).

I like the way GW keeps PvP and PvE stuff separate, and wouldn't like to see that wall broken down. I suppose it'd be acceptable if there was an interface option not to show dual requests, so that I couldn't be spammed with them. Still, it feels very much like trying to turn Guild Wars into WoW, which is an unpleasant prospect to say the least. I would support the idea of 1 on 1 duals in the battle isles, where PvP belongs.

Bad idea. 1 on 1 is not balanced in GW. Illusion mesmers will rape every other offensive build (except perhaps domination mesmer). And then there are monks

I like the idea for Team Duels. "You think you're so great? Fine. You and your best players (and/or heros) vs. me and mine. Winner gets 10k." Something like that. The only limit for teams should be the outpost party limit... of course.
Even make a dueling channel! "LFD 2k 4v4"

I would have to say, I play Assassin, and they have a LARGE amount of skills to put down Illusion Mesmers, for instance both my Shroud of Silance Build, and my Shadow Form build eat them alive. I've never had probems with these classes.

Though all they would really need to do is make the Guild hall scrimmage button available in outposts/towns. I like your idea.

one on one vs assassin
Hex Breaker for Shroud of Silence or whatever other hex you have in mind. Signet of Disenchantment for Shadow Form, well it's 1 second cast, so I won't let you cast it in a first palce, thus let's forget about it. You will have only 1 chance to get to me, cause the rest of the time you will crawl around. And if you get to me I will have distortion - a big no-no for whatever combo you have in mind. Tough one but I think I'll manage

Yay for 4 SF eles vs. 4 SF eles spam.
Yes, please add 1 on 1. It will add tons of enjoyment from people who are begging for it, after they start whining on forums how their assassin always loses.
It will also add another thing: "Sin LFG duel, no mesmers or necros"
Then again, it might make mesmers a more popular class.
Anyone who supports one-on-one so badly misunderstands the whole concept of GW...

Only if there was no reward (faction, titles, etc...) for it. Just a way for idiots to settle some retarded dispute.

/notsigned, and i enjoy 1v1. its just too..gimmicky. war vs war? both wars roll anti-melee builds and stand there looking at each other. dont roll an anti melee? then please, someone give me a war build that can beat antimelee, without being anti melee themselves. ele vs ele? obsidian flesh. ele vs war? blinding flash. mes vs caster? e-denial. mes vs melee? empathy-inept. necro vs caster? wither based build. necro vs melee? SS- SV. monk vs casters? spellbreaker- spell shield. monk vs melee? signet based retri.- holy wrath. i mean...its just so easy, i can do this all day. :\ cant support this. give me most 1v1 and i can tell you exactally how 2 expe.d players will go down with it. leave it with scrimiages pls.

I much rather have a /push [insert person's name] emote. If I don't like someone, I much rather go up, push them, they fall down, I'd throw a /laugh for good measures and then hit my Autorun button. This would actually give me some entertainment each time I visit LA, Kamadan, or Kaineng, when I hear all those WTB/WTS people spamming the local chat. I would find MUCH amusement in pushing them several times.
Seeing half the town being pushed and falling down would probably make people forget why they/other person got angry in the person place.
Anyways, if you want to 1v1 people, just send a guest invite to them, and take them on. I am sure if both of you have equally mutual "hatred" towards one another, they will accept the invite.

This would work in Nighfall only for the Hero battles. So it is 1v1 only with 3 heros per team. So its 4v4. We need the ability to do this anytime with anyone and wager items/gold for it. That would rock.

WoW had some good ideas. Not nearly enough to justify playing it but they're there alright. AH, Duels, Mounts... I'd like those in GW.

I do wonder how this thread got revisited in the first place...hmmmm...
anyhow:
1. No reward for wining.
2. Granted not all build and proffesssion is fair in such play... but since it is for entertaining purpose (see above), optional, and build easily be change,... it should be alright.
3. Not really see too much problem with spamming... adding a toggle "ignor duel request" option should solve much of the problem. (and arn't spammer's spamming really a silent outcry for help and social acceptiance?)
4. Such thing already exisit in some way (scrimiage), so it mean it should work. This is just a eaiser way to active it.
5. Its also not to settle a dispute.. but also for fun and testing/pratice builds.
6. Keep in mind what a game is for... for Fun. If you don't enjoy it, just don't dual it.

OMFG THIS WILL UMBALANCE THE GAME AND I WONT PLAY IT THAT HAPPEN
ANet has already made PvE exactly like PvP. Adding this won't unbalance shit. If you don't want to trade with someone, then don't trade with them. If you don't want to do a mission with someone, then don't do a mission with them. If you don't want to duel someone, then don't duel them, moron.
This will in no way, shape, or form effect the game for all you stupid idiots whining because it's "too much like other games" or "it not fair because i not 1337 enuf".

I agree, I really like this idea. It would be nice to have 1x1 battles in town, where the entire area can see the results (only the challenger and challenged take any damage/effects/ect. of course). Nothing is worse than someone that thinks they are uber ,talking big to everyone like they own, and not being able to show them up in public view. They may get challenged, but that means that someone has to do guild invite, go to hall, and fight there...but with no witnesses to see outcome. Not worth the time or trouble usually.

No duels.
All people so far who have asked me for a 1:1 scrimmage duel, proved to be 9yr olds who cant take a loss. I've beaten all of em, but they always screamed i cheated on this n that. Cry me a river. One guy even had zero offense, full defense, what's the point? 1:1 is for losers.
